"A wonderful story of conversion and the step-by-step
process involved in the full grasp of your Catholic identity,
with all the evangelical commitment ideally there for all of
us. I hope it helps many people and that they find it as inspiring
as I did."
Most Rev Michael E Putney, Bishop of Townsville
Working in Catholic youth ministry, I have found it difficult
to find engaging and good quality resources about what it means
to be a 'catholic' young person person today, so I was excited
about having a chance to read Pat Keady's book, Walk With
You.
Sometimes I just want to stand up in Mass and yell out "WAKE
UP!" Other times I get frustrated and saddened
when I see the youth I minister to go to other Christian churches
and decide that the Catholic Church is a big waste of time. As
much as I love seeing young people come to know Jesus, wherever
that may be, I also hope that they can find the real presence
of Jesus in our Catholic faith.
Walk With You took
me on an incredible journey of faith, as I heard Pat’s
testimony of how he came to be in relationship with Jesus and
eventually develop a deep love for the Catholic Church.
This is no intense, theological book – it comes straight
from the heart of an everyday Australian guy searching for more.
If you’ve been wondering who on earth this ‘Jesus’ guy
is, or think that being Catholic is about boring rituals and
stained glass windows, then I would urge you to read Walk
With You. But be warned: it might just mean you’ll
begin the ride of a lifetime… ;-)
- Veronica Vuletic, Diocesan Youth Co-ordinator
Pat Keady writes about his own journey of faith with great vibrancy
and energy. Pat loves life, and he shares his story with all its
twists and turns with obvious delight. He speaks to young Aussies
- not from a condemning pulpit - but as an older brother who wants
to share what he has learnt - not from a book, but from his actual,
honest life experience.
Pat is a person of true integrity. He faces the real questions
that young people ask straight on, without sidestepping them. He
shares the struggles that he has lived with and worked through.
He knows what it is like to find the Catholic Church boring and
irrelevant, and what it means to leave the Church. Pat also shares
and lives a profound and realistic vision of a revitalised, hopeful
and youthful Church.
If you have the guts to walk the walk with an open heart, I
invite you to go on a journey with Pat Keady, and see where his
story might lead you.
- Fr Richard Healey, Diocese of Wollongong
